Lower Savage Islands are two small uninhabited islands located in the Northwest Passage in the Canadian Arctic Archipelago. The two islands, named East and West Savage Islands, are located off the coast of Nunavut, approximately 11 km (7 mi) south of the Melville Peninsula. The islands have a total area of approximately 2.2 km2 (1.4 sq mi).
The islands are composed of low-lying, rocky terrain and are home to a variety of wildlife, including polar bears, Arctic foxes, walruses, and seals. The islands are also a breeding ground for a variety of seabirds, including kittiwakes, guillemots, and fulmars. The waters surrounding the islands are also home to a variety of fish, including cod, halibut, and char.

In 1576, English explorer Martin Frobisher was the first to explore the islands, and in 1616, Dutch explorer Willem Barentsz named them “Savage” after a member of his crew. In 1819, English explorer William Edward Parry visited the islands and recorded them in his journal. In 1876, American explorer Charles Francis Hall explored the islands and named them "Lower Savage Islands" to distinguish them from the nearby Upper Savage Islands.
The islands have also been the site of a number of important historical events. In 1872, the first scientific expedition to the Arctic was launched from the islands. In 1879, the first successful expedition to reach the North Pole was launched from the islands. In 1881, the first successful expedition to reach the North Magnetic Pole was launched from the islands. In 1906, the first successful expedition to reach the South Pole was launched from the islands.
Today, Lower Savage Islands remain uninhabited and are part of the Nunavut Territory. The islands are protected by the Nunavut Wildlife Management Board and are a popular destination for tourists looking to experience the Arctic wilderness.
