Pine Island is a small island located in the South Pacific off the coast of New Caledonia. It is part of the Loyalty Islands archipelago and is situated approximately 60 kilometers east of the mainland. The island covers an area of approximately 4.5 square kilometers and is home to a population of approximately 500 people.

The island was first sighted by Europeans in 1774 and was named by the French explorer La Perouse. In 1853, the island became part of the French protectorate of New Caledonia.
During World War II, the island was occupied by the Japanese and used as a military base. Following the war, the island was returned to the French and has been part of New Caledonia ever since.
Today, Pine Island is a popular tourist destination. Visitors come to the island to enjoy its beautiful beaches, clear waters and lush tropical vegetation. The island is also home to a variety of cultural attractions, including traditional Kanak villages and archaeological sites.
