Enderby Island is an uninhabited island located in the Auckland Islands archipelago in New Zealand. It is the northernmost island of the group, located about 460 km south of the South Island of New Zealand. It is a rugged, mountainous island, with an area of approximately 13 square kilometres.
Enderby Island is home to a rich variety of wildlife, including a large population of breeding seabirds, as well as fur seals, elephant seals, and several species of penguins. The island is also home to a number of endemic species, including the Auckland Islands pigmy shrew, the New Zealand sea lion, and the Auckland Island snipe.
The island was first sighted in 1806 by Captain Abraham Bristow, and named after the Enderby Brothers, a London-based whaling company. In 1849, the Enderby Settlement was established on the island by the New Zealand Company to exploit the local fur seal population. The settlement was abandoned in 1852 due to the dwindling population of seals and the harsh climate.
In the 1880s, Enderby Island was used as a base for whaling operations. In the early 20th century, the island was used as a sheep farm, with the last sheep being removed in the 1950s.
The island is now a nature reserve, managed by the New Zealand Department of Conservation. The island is a popular destination for birdwatchers, and is home to a number of rare and endangered species. The island is also the site of several important archaeological sites, including the remains of the Enderby Settlement and the remains of the whaling station.

The island also experiences high levels of rainfall throughout the year, with the wettest months being July and August.
