Darién National Park is a large protected area located in the easternmost part of Panama, near the border with Colombia. It is the largest national park in Central America, covering an area of 5,400 square kilometers. The park is home to a wide variety of plant and animal species, including the endangered Baird’s tapir, jaguar, and harpy eagle. It also contains several important archaeological sites, including the remains of a pre-Columbian trading center.

The park is located in the Darién Gap, a large swath of tropical rainforest that is home to some of the most remote and untouched areas of the region.
