Pemba is a semi-autonomous region located in the northeast of Tanzania, in the Indian Ocean. It is bordered by the Indian Ocean to the east, the mainland of Tanzania to the west, the island of Zanzibar to the north, and the mainland of Mozambique to the south. Pemba is the second largest island in the Zanzibar Archipelago, with a total area of 988 square kilometers. The island is divided into two districts, Chake-Chake and Mkoani.

Pemba in Tanzania has a tropical climate with two distinct seasons - wet and dry.
