Trujillo is a city and municipality located in the Honduran department of Colón, on the northern Caribbean coast of Central America. It is the capital of the department and is situated on a small bay at the mouth of the river of the same name. The city is located at an elevation of 10 meters (33 ft) above sea level, with an average temperature of 26 °C (79 °F).

Trujillo was founded in 1524 by the Spanish conquistadors. It was named after the Spanish city of Trujillo, which was the birthplace of Hernán Cortés.
