Bantry Bay is a large natural harbour located on the south-west coast of Ireland, in the county of Cork. It is a popular tourist destination due to its stunning scenery, rugged coastline and abundance of wildlife.

Bantry Bay is a deep inlet of the Atlantic Ocean, sheltered by the Beara Peninsula. It is approximately 25 km long and 10 km wide, with a maximum depth of approximately 160 metres. The area has a long and varied history. During the 16th century, the bay was used as a safe harbour for ships travelling to and from the Spanish-controlled Netherlands. In 1796, the British captured a French fleet in the bay and in 1816, the bay was the site of the first recorded lifeboat rescue in Ireland.
