Kumejima is an island in the Okinawa Prefecture of Japan. Located in the East China Sea, the island is approximately 70 square kilometers in size and is home to approximately 7,000 people. It is the second largest of the Kerama Islands, a small archipelago of 22 islands located between Okinawa Island and the Yaeyama Islands.
