Topolobampo is a port city located in the Mexican state of Sinaloa on the Gulf of California. It is situated on the eastern side of the estuary of the Fuerte River, which flows into the Gulf of California, and is approximately 20 kilometers (12 miles) south of the state capital, Culiacán. The city has a population of approximately 20,000 people and is the second-largest port in Sinaloa.

Topolobampo is an important commercial hub in the region, with a large fishing industry, as well as an important port for both cargo and passenger ships. The port has been in operation since the early 19th century, when it was used as a trading port for the Spanish colonial government.

The city has a rich history, dating back to the pre-Hispanic era when the area was inhabited by the Tehueco people. During the colonial period, Topolobampo became a thriving port city, due to its strategic location on the Gulf of California. In 1864, the port was the site of a major battle between the French and the Mexican forces during the French Intervention in Mexico.

In the late 19th century, Topolobampo was a major shipping port for the export of silver ore from the nearby silver mines. The city was also the site of the first trans-Pacific cable station in Mexico, which connected the city with San Francisco.
