Chuuk Lagoon, located in the Federated States of Micronesia, is a large, shallow body of water surrounded by tropical islands. The lagoon is approximately 130 km long, and covers an area of 2,130 square kilometers. It is connected to the open ocean through four narrow channels, and is home to approximately 50,000 people.
