Kiriwina is an island in the Trobriand Islands archipelago, located in the Milne Bay Province of Papua New Guinea. It is the largest of the Trobriand Islands, with an area of about 190 square kilometers. The island is located about 50 kilometers off the coast of the mainland and is surrounded by the Solomon Sea.

Kiriwina was first sighted by Europeans in 1793, when the British explorer William Wilson spotted it from his ship. The island was later visited by the French explorer Louis de Bougainville in 1768.

The population of Kiriwina is made up of the Trobriand people, who are believed to have arrived on the island around 3000 years ago. The Trobriand people have a rich cultural heritage, and their traditional way of life is based on fishing and agriculture.
