Manila is the capital city of the Philippines, located on the eastern shore of Manila Bay in the western portion of Luzon Island. It is the largest city in the country with a population of over 1.8 million people. Geographically, Manila is situated in a large delta, with the Pasig River running through the center of the city. In 1898, the city was captured by the United States during the Spanish-American War, and remained a US territory until 1946.

The dry season runs from November to April and is generally cooler and drier, with temperatures ranging from 23-32°C and relatively low humidity. Both seasons experience high temperatures and plenty of sunshine, making Manila a great destination year-round.
