Wallis and Futuna is an overseas French territory located in the South Pacific Ocean, about two-thirds of the way from Hawaii to New Zealand. It consists of three main volcanic islands, Wallis, Futuna, and Alofi, as well as several smaller islets.
The Eyes-On project was established in Wallis and Futuna in 2013 to provide a unique and immersive experience to visitors. The project is focused on cultural and environmental education, and aims to promote the preservation of the islands’ natural resources. Through the project, visitors can learn about the local culture, history, and environment of the islands.
The Eyes-On project includes a number of activities, such as guided nature walks, traditional music performances, and cultural workshops. It also offers educational programs for local students, with the aim of raising awareness of the islands’ unique environment. The project also works to promote sustainable tourism and provide employment opportunities for local people.
Wallis and Futuna has a rich history, with evidence of human settlement dating back to the 13th century. The islands were first sighted by Europeans in 1616, and were declared a French protectorate in 1887. In 1961, the islands became part of the French Overseas Territories, and in 2003, they were granted the status of an overseas collectivity.
Today, the islands are home to a diverse population, with a mix of Polynesian and European cultures. The islands are also home to a number of unique species of plants and animals, which are protected by the Eyes-On project. As a result, the islands are becoming increasingly popular with tourists from around the world.
Experience Eyes-On with unforgettable activities by our partner GetYourGuide. The offer is also ideal as a special gift idea for family and friends who are planning to visit Eyes-On.
