Zakynthos is an island in the Ionian Sea of Greece, located off the western coast of the mainland. It is the third largest island in the Ionian Sea, and the sixth largest in the country. It is known for its stunning beaches, lush green landscapes, and traditional Greek culture.

The island is shaped like an “X” and is just over 40 miles long and about 15 miles wide. It is divided into three regions: the north, south and east. The northern region is known for its mountainous terrain, while the south and east are characterized by flatlands and rolling hills. The highest peak on the island is Mount Skopos, which rises to an elevation of 906 meters.

The climate of Zakynthos is Mediterranean, with hot and dry summers and mild winters. The island is known for its beautiful beaches, which are made up of white, golden and red sand. The most famous beach is Navagio Beach, which is located on the northwest side of the island.

Zakynthos has a long and rich history. It was first settled in the Neolithic period, and later became part of the ancient Greek civilization. During the Hellenistic period, the island was ruled by the Romans. In the Middle Ages, it was occupied by the Venetians, and later the Ottomans. During World War II, the island was occupied by the Germans, and then liberated by the British.

Today, Zakynthos is a popular holiday destination for tourists from all over the world. It is known for its stunning landscape, traditional Greek culture, and vibrant nightlife.
