Kalabahi is a town located on the northeastern tip of the Alor Island in Indonesia. It is the capital of the Alor Regency and the largest town in the regency. It is the main port and administrative center of the Alor archipelago.
Kalabahi is situated in the Banda Sea, about 200 kilometers (124 miles) east of Kupang, the capital of East Nusa Tenggara province. It has a tropical climate with temperatures ranging from 24 to 33 degrees Celsius (75 to 91 degrees Fahrenheit). The town is surrounded by mountains, hills, and a large bay.
The history of Kalabahi dates back to the 16th century when it was a trading post for the Portuguese. The Dutch East India Company later took control of the area and established a fortress in the town. Kalabahi was also the site of a major battle between the Dutch and the local people in 1756.
