Waingapu is a city located in the East Sumba Regency of Indonesia. It is the capital of the regency and the largest city in the area, with a population of around 41,000 people.
Waingapu is situated on the eastern coast of Sumba Island, in the Lesser Sunda Islands. It is located on the southern side of the Sumba Strait, with the closest major cities being Kupang in the west and Ende in the east.
