Komodo is an island located in the Lesser Sunda Islands of Indonesia. It is part of the Komodo National Park, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The island is home to the Komodo dragon, the world’s largest living species of lizard, as well as other rare and endangered species. It is also known for its stunning landscapes, featuring rugged hills, white sand beaches, and crystal clear waters.
Komodo is located in the southern part of the Lesser Sunda Islands, between the islands of Sumbawa and Flores. It is roughly 70 kilometers long and 30 kilometers wide, with a total area of 1,817 square kilometers. The island is surrounded by coral reefs, which make it a popular spot for snorkeling and diving. The climate is tropical, with temperatures ranging from 20 to 30 degrees Celsius.
Komodo has a long and rich history. It was first mentioned in the 12th century by the Chinese explorer Marco Polo. In the 16th century, the island was visited by the Portuguese explorer Antonio de Abreu. The island was also visited by Dutch and English traders in the 18th century, who established trading posts on the island. In the 19th century, the island was annexed by the Dutch East Indies.
In 1980, Komodo National Park was established to protect the island’s unique wildlife. It is now a popular tourist destination, with visitors coming to see the Komodo dragons, as well as the other wildlife and stunning landscapes. The island is also home to a number of traditional villages, where visitors can learn about the local culture and way of life.

Komodo in Indonesia has a tropical climate with two distinct seasons: the dry season from May to November and the wet season from December to April. During the dry season, temperatures are relatively warm, ranging from 20-32°C and humidity is low. During the wet season, temperatures are slightly cooler, ranging from 18-29°C and humidity is higher. The months of October and November often experience strong winds. Rainfall is generally highest during the wet season, with December and January being the wettest months.
