Marghera is a comune (municipality) in the Metropolitan City of Venice, Veneto, Italy. It is located in the north-west of the Veneto region, and is situated along the banks of the Brenta River, just east of the city of Venice. It is part of the wider metropolitan area of Venice, and is the second largest city in the region.

The area of Marghera has been inhabited since ancient times, and was once a Roman settlement known as "Porto Marghera". It was an important trading port in the Middle Ages, and was also a major centre of industry and commerce during the Renaissance period.
