Nendo is an island located in the Solomon Islands, an archipelago in the South Pacific Ocean, located east of Papua New Guinea and north of Vanuatu. It is the third-largest island in the country, with a total area of about 1,440 square kilometers.

The island is situated near the center of the archipelago, and is surrounded by other islands such as Choiseul, Santa Isabel, and Guadalcanal. The battle was a major victory for the Allied forces, and marked the beginning of the end of the war in the Pacific.

Humidity is generally high throughout the year, but tends to be lower during the dry season.
