Tambon Patong is a sub-district located in the Kathu District of Phuket Province, Thailand. It covers an area of about 17.8 square kilometres and has a population of about 20,000 people.
The sub-district is situated in the south-east of the province, close to the Andaman Sea. It is bordered by Tambon Kathu to the north, Tambon Sai Khao to the east, Tambon Karon to the south, and Tambon Kamala to the west. Patong is the main town in the sub-district, and is located on the west coast of Phuket.
Patong is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Thailand. It is known for its beaches, nightlife, and shopping. It is home to a number of hotels, restaurants, bars, and nightclubs, as well as a variety of other attractions.
The area has a long history. It is believed that the area was first settled by the Moken people, an ethnic group from the Malay Peninsula. The first recorded settlement in the area was in the 17th century, when the town of Patong was established as a trading port.
In the 19th century, the area was part of the Sino-Siamese War, a conflict between the Chinese and Thai forces. The Chinese were defeated, and the area became part of the Kingdom of Siam.
