Sir Bani Yas is an island located off the coast of the United Arab Emirates (UAE). It is situated in the Persian Gulf, approximately 170km southwest of Abu Dhabi, the capital of the UAE. The island is approximately 8 km long and 3 km wide, and is surrounded by a number of smaller islands.

Sir Bani Yas is home to a number of important historical sites, including the remains of a 6th century Christian monastery. This monastery was built by the Nestorian Christians and is believed to be the oldest Christian site in the UAE. Other archaeological sites on the island include the ruins of a fortress, a mosque and a cemetery.

The island is also home to a number of wildlife reserves, including the Arabian Wildlife Park, which is the largest wildlife reserve in the UAE. The park is home to a variety of animals, including Arabian Oryx, gazelles, cheetahs, hyenas and a variety of birds.

Sir Bani Yas has been inhabited since prehistoric times and has a long history of human settlement. In the early 20th century, the island was a popular destination for pearl divers. In 1971, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the first president of the UAE, established a nature reserve on the island.
