Kailua is a census-designated place (CDP) located in Honolulu County, Hawaii, USA. It is situated on the eastern coast of the island of Oahu, approximately 12 miles northeast of Honolulu. Kailua is bordered by Kaneohe to the north, Waimanalo to the south, and Maunawili to the west. The population of Kailua was 38,635 as of the 2010 census.
