Kahului

Kahului is a census-designated place (CDP) in Maui County, Hawaii, United States. It is the largest town and commercial center of Maui, with a population of 26,337 people as of the 2010 census. Located on the north shore of the island, between the West Maui Mountains and the Haleakala volcano, Kahului is a major transportation hub, with Kahului Airport and the major harbor of Kahului Harbor being located within its boundaries.

Kahului is located on the north shore of the island of Maui, at an elevation of 54 feet (16 meters) above sea level. It is located at latitude 20.89 degrees North and longitude 156.47 degrees West. It is bordered to the east by Wailuku, and to the south by the town of Puunene.

Kahului has a long and interesting history. The area was originally inhabited by the native Hawaiians, and was a major center for fishing and agricultural activities. In the early 1800s, the area was a major port for whaling ships, and it was also the site of the first sugar plantation in Hawaii.

In the late 1800s, the area was transformed by the arrival of the railroad, and the port of Kahului was developed to serve the sugar industry. The town was incorporated in 1903, and in the following decades, it grew to become the largest town in Maui.

Today, Kahului is a vibrant and bustling town, with a wide variety of shops, restaurants, and entertainment venues. It is also home to the University of Hawaii Maui College, as well as the Maui Arts & Cultural Center. The town is also a popular tourist destination, with numerous beaches and attractions nearby.
