Ikaria is an island located in the Aegean Sea, off the coast of Greece. It is the most eastern of the Dodecanese islands, situated between the islands of Samos and Chios. It has a total area of 255 square kilometres and a population of almost 10,000 inhabitants.
The island is known for its stunning natural beauty, with its rocky coastline, lush forests, and crystal clear waters. The highest peak on the island is Mount Ikario, which stands at 1,037 metres.

In the early Christian period, Ikaria was a major centre of Christian faith, and it was here that the Apostle Paul preached.
Throughout the centuries, Ikaria has been subject to numerous invasions and occupations by the Romans, Byzantines, Venetians, and Ottomans. During World War II, the island was occupied by the Germans, and it was liberated in 1945.
