Mumbai is the capital city of the Indian state of Maharashtra. It is the most populous city in India and one of the most populous cities in the world, with an estimated population of 18.41 million as of 2018. Located on the west coast of India, Mumbai lies on the Konkan coast on the Arabian Sea. It is India’s financial and commercial hub, and home to the Bollywood film industry.

Mumbai is located on the western coast of India, and is bordered by the Arabian Sea. The city has a tropical climate, with temperatures ranging from an average high of 32°C in the summer to an average low of 19°C in the winter.

Mumbai has a long and rich history, dating back to the 6th century BC when it was known as “Bombay”. In the 16th century, the Portuguese arrived in the area, and the city became a major trading port. In the 18th century, the British East India Company took control of the city, and it became a major trading and industrial center. During the 19th century, Mumbai saw a period of rapid growth and expansion, and the city’s population increased significantly.

Mumbai is now a major metropolitan city, and a major cultural and economic center of India. It is home to some of the most important economic, educational, and cultural institutions in the country, including the Bombay Stock Exchange, the National Stock Exchange of India, the Reserve Bank of India, and the University of Mumbai. It is also home to some of the most iconic monuments, such as the Gateway of India, the Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus, and the Haji Ali Dargah.
