Honolulu is the capital of the U.S. state of Hawaii and the county seat of Honolulu County. It is located on the island of Oahu in the Central Pacific, approximately 2,000 miles from the mainland United States. It is the most populous city in the state and the only one with a population of over one million.

The city is situated on the southeastern shore of the island, along the shores of the Waikiki Beach and the Ala Wai Canal. It is home to the world-famous Waikiki Beach, a popular tourist destination. Honolulu has a long and varied history, beginning with its settlement by Polynesian settlers in the 13th century. It was later conquered by the British and then by the United States in the late 19th century. In 1959, Hawaii became the 50th state of the United States, and Honolulu became its capital.

Today, Honolulu is a vibrant city with a diverse population, a thriving economy, and a rich cultural heritage. It is a popular tourist destination and is home to a variety of attractions, including the Ala Moana Shopping Center, the Waikiki Aquarium, and the USS Arizona Memorial.
