Seoul is the capital and largest metropolis of South Korea. It is located on the Han River in the northwest of the country and is home to a population of over 10 million people. Seoul is a major global city and is the world’s second largest metropolitan area.

Seoul is situated in the northwest of South Korea, roughly 37 miles east of the Yellow Sea, and is surrounded by mountains. Seoul has a long and rich history, having been founded in 18 BC by the Baekje Kingdom. It served as the capital of the Joseon Dynasty for over 500 years, and was the center of politics, economy, and culture for the region. During the Korean War, Seoul was heavily damaged and was eventually divided into North and South.

Today, Seoul is a vibrant and modern city and is one of the most visited cities in the world. It is home to a number of cultural and historical attractions, including the Gyeongbokgung Palace, the National Museum of Korea, and the Bukchon Hanok Village. It is also a major financial and business hub, and is home to a number of multinational corporations.
