Hiroshima is a major city in Japan located in the southwestern part of Honshu, the largest of Japan’s main islands. It is the capital of Hiroshima Prefecture, and the largest city in the Chugoku region of western Honshu. It is best known as the site of the first atomic bomb attack in history, which occurred on August 6th, 1945.

Hiroshima is a major cultural center in Japan, and is home to many museums and monuments dedicated to the victims of the atomic bomb. It is also the birthplace of the popular Japanese dish okonomiyaki, and is known for its seafood and sake.
